About Us

There is a management theory which states that great organizations are born out of unusual circumstances and they thrive with good management skills.

This theory fits perfectly well with our organization – Fabric Ashoka. The genesis of this organization came in unusualcircumstances. The Grandfather of present owners, Mr.Sevaram Motandas Chadha was born in the city of Jacobabad situated in the Sindh province of Pakistan. He was already engaged in the business of textiles and was a name in itself in Jakomabad. He was on holidays and was visiting Udaipur, the city of lakes, situated in the Rajasthan province of India in 1947 when the war broke out and he was stuck here. He stayed here for a long time and his love for the locales and the people prompted him to shift in this lovely city. With the help of then Maharana of Mewar (Udaipur) Shreeji Bhupal Singh Mewar, who facilitated their rehabilitation, he opened his first shop of textiles in Udaipur in 1952.

After their Grandfather, the Father of the present owners,Mr. Kherajmal Chadha opened another shop in 1973 on City Palace road and named it Saraswati Art & Handicraft. Through their relentless efforts and good business acumen they opened their third shop in 1982 on City Palace road and named it Sapna Saree Emporium. After establishment of this shop the present owners Mr.Ashok Chadha, Mr. Ramesh Chadha and Mr. Rajesh Chadha took on the baton of the business from their father and established Fabric Ashoka situated on the Lake Palace road in 1988. A step ahead they opened two new shops at Lal Ghat in Udaipur by the name Rani Exports in the year 2000 and Fabric Radha Krishna in 2002.

Small wonder, since the brothers are gracious, charming, helpful and very knowledgeable about their wares. They stock a fabulous collection of old and new textiles, clothing, home furnishing materials, tribal jewelry, and an assortment of other goodies (woven, embroidered, bejeweled, etc.) sure to delight anyone interested in the needle arts of embroidery in Rajasthan, Gujarat, Karnataka, Punjab, Sindh and also from other parts in India. For these reasons, many film folks and other VIP's, including 'Miss World', come to call and shop when they are in town. When the James Bond movie "Octopussy" was being shot in Udaipur, its entire crew and cast including James Bond himself came to visit Fabric Ashoka and bought clothes and other accessories from here. Come to Fabric Ashoka, your one and only stop to fulfill all your clothing and interior decoration needs.
